Ladakh Road Trip, Leh, Nubra & Pangong

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day 1

   Arrival in Leh, rest day

   Fly into Leh at 3,500 m and rest for the day to get used to the altitude. Easy evening at Leh market and sunset from Shanti Stupa. Overnight in Leh.

2. Day 2

   Sham Valley: Magnetic Hill and Sangam

   Visit Hall of Fame, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, the pull of Magnetic Hill and the Indus and Zanskar meeting at Sangam. Overnight in Leh.

3. Day 3

   Leh to Nubra over Khardung La

   Cross Khardung La on the way to Nubra, about 120 km (5 hours). Visit Diskit Monastery and the Maitreya Buddha, then a double-hump camel ride on the Hunder dunes. Overnight in a Nubra camp.

4. Day 4

   Nubra to Pangong Lake via Shyok

   Follow the Shyok river road, about 160 km (6 hours), to Pangong Tso. Watch the lake turn from blue to green as the light moves. Overnight in a lakeside camp.

5. Day 5

   Pangong to Leh via Chang La and Thiksey

   Sunrise at the lake, then drive back over Chang La, about 160 km (5 hours), with a stop at Thiksey Monastery. Overnight in Leh.

6. Day 6

   Hemis, Shey Palace and Stok

   Visit Hemis Monastery, Shey Palace and the royal museum at Stok Palace, then free time to shop for pashmina and apricots. Overnight in Leh.

7. Day 7

   Departure from Leh

   Breakfast and drop at Leh airport for your flight home. Trip ends.
