Meghalaya Highlights, Shillong, Cherrapunji & Dawki

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day 1

   Arrival in Guwahati, drive to Shillong

   Pickup from Guwahati airport and a 3 hour drive up to Shillong, with a stop at the blue Umiam Lake. Evening at Ward's Lake and Police Bazaar. Overnight in Shillong.

2. Day 2

   Cherrapunji waterfalls and caves

   Drive to Sohra (Cherrapunji) past the Mawkdok Dympep valley viewpoint. See Nohkalikai Falls, the Seven Sisters Falls and walk inside the limestone Mawsmai Cave. Overnight in Cherrapunji.

3. Day 3

   Mawlynnong and the crystal river at Dawki

   Visit Mawlynnong, known as Asia's cleanest village, the Riwai living root bridge and the Balancing Rock. Boat ride on the glass-clear Umngot river at Dawki on the Bangladesh border. Back to Shillong for the night.

4. Day 4

   Shillong Peak, Elephant Falls and Laitlum

   Morning views over the city from Shillong Peak and the three tiers of Elephant Falls. Afternoon at the deep green Laitlum canyons and the Don Bosco museum. Overnight in Shillong.

5. Day 5

   Shillong to Guwahati, departure

   Breakfast and the drive back to Guwahati, with a stop at Kamakhya Temple if your flight time allows. Drop at the airport or station. Trip ends.
