Vietnam Highlights, Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day 1

   Arrival in Hanoi, Old Quarter evening

   Pickup from Noi Bai airport and hotel check-in. Evening walk around Hoan Kiem Lake and the busy Ta Hien street. Overnight in Hanoi.

2. Day 2

   Ha Long Bay day cruise

   Drive about 2.5 hours to Ha Long for a day cruise with lunch, Thien Cung Cave and a bamboo boat ride through Ba Hang fishing village. Back to Hanoi at night. Overnight in Hanoi.

3. Day 3

   Temple of Literature, fly to Da Nang

   Morning at the Temple of Literature and Hoa Lo Prison, then a 1 hour 15 minute flight to Da Nang. Evening by the Dragon Bridge on the Han River. Overnight in Da Nang.

4. Day 4

   Ba Na Hills and the Golden Bridge

   Ride the cable car up Ba Na Hills, walk the Golden Bridge held by giant stone hands and explore the French Village. Overnight in Da Nang.

5. Day 5

   Marble Mountains, then Hoi An

   Climb the caves and pagodas of the Marble Mountains, then drive 30 km to Hoi An. Evening in the Ancient Town at the Japanese Covered Bridge, with a lantern boat on the river. Overnight in Hoi An.

6. Day 6

   Hoi An morning, fly to Ho Chi Minh City

   Free morning for tailor shops or a bike ride to Tra Que herb village. Fly about 1.5 hours to Ho Chi Minh City and visit Ben Thanh Market at night. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

7. Day 7

   Cu Chi Tunnels and Saigon city tour

   Morning at the Cu Chi Tunnels, about 1.5 hours away. Afternoon at the Central Post Office, Notre Dame Cathedral, War Remnants Museum and Independence Palace. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

8. Day 8

   Departure from Ho Chi Minh City

   Breakfast and transfer to Tan Son Nhat airport. Trip ends.
